Sophie received her Bachelors degree in social work from the University of Houston at Clear Lake in 2011 and completed her Master's degree in social work from Texas State University in 2014. She has over 20 years working in various mental health settings with young adults, adults, and geriatrics. A major focus in her work has been anxiety management and complicated grief, while helping other clients develop healthy coping skills, reduce stress, and prevent burnout. Long-term experience within the hospice setting has allowed Sophie to gain a greater understanding of the mini layers of grief, and the ability to recognize that the feeling of loss is not something that ends, but instead, as part of a transformative journey. As a clinical social worker in her private practice, Sophie offers personalized client centered therapy services addressing a wide range of mental health issues with compassion and expertise. She believes in creating a safe, inclusive space where clients can explore challenges and work toward meaningful change. Sophie’s mission is to empower individuals and communities through skilled empathetic care. Her preferred method is a systems perspective approach. This method explores how people interact with their physical, social, and cultural environments, and the impacts. A therapeutic approach is to evaluate each person with their environment, provide support and practical feedback to help clients effectively address personal life challenges. Sophie utilizes, compassion and understanding while working with each individual to help them build on their strengths and attain the desired personal growth. Sophie’s areas of clinical practice include: living with a serious illness, complicated grief and loss, life transitions, and substance abuse. The goal with every client is to build a relationship on trust, honestly, and openness, so clients can create the change and shifts desired. Sophie has a sense of curiosity and takes the time to build the trust and sense of safety clients have a right to. In Sophie's free time she enjoys spending quality time with her grandchildren, playing pickle-ball, gardening, attending concerts, and family time.
